Job SummaryThe Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the direct activities of the purchasing team.
Additionally, this position collaborates with various business leaders to develop and execute category plans that minimize vendor risk and support new product development activities while optimizing vendor economics and outcomes.
Essential Job Functions Manage and lead purchasing team and direct cross-functional team activities.
Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
Develop and communicate performance metrics, leading indicator data and external market factors.
Benchmark and utilize best practices.
Key escalation point for supplier performance issues, along with determining corrective actions, where appropriate Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for the purchasing team Drives price reduction activities by identifying and tracking product cost drivers, market trends and economic factors.
Structure cost reduction programs using value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) techniques, and other tool sets to reduce supply chain complexities, waste & total cost.
Conducts periodic reviews of supplier performance and establish goals for on-time delivery, quality and cost reductions.
Ensures repeatable product quality from supply base with minimal inventory and no disruptions to production.
Makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
Partners with Engineering, Project Management and Quality to align design with our strategic base, improve reliability and accuracy, provide project support, timeline execution, reduce overall business costs, and mitigate risk to the organization.
Develops relationships with key suppliers as well as other disciplines within the businesses.
Represent the 'voice of the supplier' in the organization.
Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
Supplier visits, as needed, based on vendor performance & upcoming projects or deliverables Maintains and/or implements purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in business, economics, supply chain or engineering with minimum of 5-8 years of increasing responsibilities in manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated experience in leadership and leading cross functional teams.
Demonstrated customer service, problem solving, communication, negotiation, tact, judgment, and organizational skills.
Solid coaching, team building, and relationship building skills.
Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities required Excellent communication skills, cross-functional networking, an ability to influence, and project management skills required.
Previous experience with raw material procurement processes and supplier performance management programs.
MicroSoft Outlook, Advance Excel skills required, Epicor experience strongly preferred.
CPM, APICS or other supply chain management certifications preferred.
Some travel required.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
